Are you considering ergonomics as a career choice and want to learn more?
Are you tired of paying ergonomic consultants for basic evaluations?
Would you like to have a certification in ergonomics?
Computer use is taking more and more of a toll on peoples’ bodies. Awkward postures, long hours in one position and poor arrangement of equipment can lead to aches, pain and even injuries, but this is preventable with ergonomics.
If you have a background in health and wellness and are familiar with the human body and how it functions best you may be interested in learning more about ergonomics.
Ergonomics works by modifying the environment to fit the person. Usually, the person is adapting to their environment, which causes awkward postures, contact stress and long hours in one position.
But, when companies want to hire someone to help them with ergonomic evaluations, they usually find 2 things: overqualified ergonomics professionals they can’t afford; or unqualified people with no evidence of formal training.
What most employers need is someone who is qualified to provide basic preventative evaluations.
We are an ergonomics consulting firm that has trained ergonomic evaluators for over 20 years.
We developed our certification program to provide a solid foundation in office ergonomics based on the concepts and solutions you really need to know.
We won’t waste your time on topics that aren’t necessary or ideas that are no longer relevant, and you will be able to put these skills to use immediately.
Essential Ergonomics
Online Certification Course
You will learn about ergonomic risk factors first: awkward postures, contact stress, repetition and prolonged positioning. We will show you how these affect different parts of the body and how they can lead to overuse injuries. Next, you will learn to identify what is actually creating the risk. Is it the person, the equipment, the environment or a combination of issues.
Next, you will learn about making adjustments to furniture. We will show you our step by step method to adjusting even the most complicated ergonomic chairs. Then you’ll get trained in assessing and adjusting sitting and standing desks. We cover the 4 basic types of sit-stand workstations and teach you the pros and cons of each as well as what modifications are the most common. Then, you will learn about equipment and accessories. You will also get a comprehensive list of our favorite products.
Finally, you will learn how to document the ergonomic evaluation - what information should be included based on the type of evaluation you are doing. You will also find out what should never go in an evaluation because it could cause tremendous liability for you and the employer. You’ll get our template for a basic ergonomic evaluation.
Because use of the term ergonomic is not regulated, there is a lot of incorrect information in the world. You’ll get tips on how to critically assess information and decide what is valid and what is not.
When you are talking to your clients it's important that you know how to steer the conversation to get what you need as well as avoid topics that aren’t helpful. You’ll learn what to say, what not to say, and how to handle delicate situations.
Next, you will be applying your new skills by doing an evaluation and completing the report. This is where you see it all come together.
You will put your new skills and knowledge to the test by answering questions and reviewing video to simulate a real world evaluation. There are 2 exams that must be passed to qualify for this certification. You must pass exam 1 with 70% or more and exam 2 with 80% or more.
Your certification after successful completion of this course will be:
Ergonomic Assessment Specialist - Office (EAS-O).

"I had employees who were dissatisfied with their current desk configuration and I didn’t feel confident advising employees on proper set up. I signed up for this course because I worked with Healthworks in the past and employees got good results with their ergo evals. I will be able to evaluate an employee’s current configuration and provide some suggestions to make their workspace more efficient and more ergonomic. The goal was to provide a comfortable work environment while reducing risks. By completing this course, I am better equipped to handle general inquiries or requests for special equipment or desk changes. "- Pam Boyett, Shoretel (now mitel.com)
"I needed resources for clients for their ergonomics questions. Now, I can provide more advice and recommendations for corporate clients with their ergonomic evaluations and concerns." - Dave Guzman
"I needed to know how to properly talk to and approach employees about an ergonomic evaluation. I gained considerable knowledge on chair adjustability, proper desk and monitor position. I feel that this will help me to speak more confidently to someone about proper ergonomic form." - Zach Webb, ARM
